My name is Johnny Brose and I’m the Winemaking Instructor at Chemeketa Community College.
In brief, I grew up in Baker City, a small town in Eastern Oregon. I attended Oregon State University and graduated with a degree in Food Science & Technology, focusing on fermentation science. This unique degree paved the way for me to work and travel around the world. My experiences range from brewing pilsner in Germany to basket-pressing shiraz in Australia. In the U.S., I’ve had the pleasure to work with wineries of varying sizes, such as: E&J Gallo, King Estate, Lemelson Vineyards, and Fortuity Cellars.

While in the Yakima Valley, I was introduced to the winemaking program at Yakima Valley College as an adjunct instructor. This program focused on producing and analyzing wine to meet industry standards. It was here that I learned how to be a teacher while maintaining a boutique winery.
In 2020, my wife and I started our own wine label, Flora Jane. We focus on unique vineyard sites that make the Pacific Northwest a special place to create wine.

In my free time, I enjoy hiking, skiing, and chasing around our chocolate and yellow labs, Rainier & Sammy.
