Efficient winery water use, downstream treatment, and eventual water reclamation are important components of a sustainable future for the Oregon wine industry. In this session, Technical Winemaker Bob Coleman will discuss winery protocol updates, future directions, and how this can influence water use and downstream processing today and moving forward. Wastewater Manager John Haslett will also discuss the treatment of wastewater at his plant step-by-step, the relevant data parameters that he monitors, and how wineries of various sizes could begin to utilize this technology. Finally, the panelists will discuss the future goals of their systems and why managing and monitoring wastewater is an important component of winery sustainability planning.
