Raised among the blue oaks of the California Sierra foothills, Rebecca learned to appreciate agriculture when her family moved to the San Juaquin Valley, where orchards were the only habitats to be found for a teenage dryad. Studies at Humboldt State, Oregon State University, and in permaculture design have led her to view cover crops as not only fantastic agronomic tools, but as a bridge between wild and cultivated landscapes. Her 13 years as a vineyard inspector for the LIVE program developed her perspective on whole-farm ecological management systems throughout Oregon and Washington. She has professionally managed vineyards at Van Duzer, Lemelson, and a few small vineyards in Benton County. In 2019, Buzz Cover Crop Seeds was founded to provide diverse, flowering cover crop mixes as well as certified organic cover crop seeds to ecologically-minded farms. She maintains a diverse, homestead-scale farm with her family in Philomath, OR.
